30 Day Blog Challenge Day 18

Something I regret....

I really have no regrets. I think everything happens for a reason. I think everyone that I come into contact with is in my life for a reason.

That being said, the only thing I truly regret is not spending more time with my grandmother before she died. She died November 28, 2009 while I was in Alabama for Thanksgiving. I regret not staying in Texas and seeing her for a last time. I never went to see her enough. I will always live with that. She truly loved it when we would go and see her. She loved it so much that she never wanted us to leave. She would follow us out to the car and continue to talk to us. She lived a long life. She was a woman of faith, and she loved her Lord and her family. So, it will soon be a year that she has gone to Heaven. I guess in a way that is why I want to stay in Texas for Thanksgiving. I can't even explain why. RIP Golda!

I have missed a few posts, but here is day 15. Hopefully I won't get behind again. :)

Bible Verse:

Jeremiah 29:11 "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

This is the Bible verse that gave me hope when I was looking for my future husband.

30 Day Blog Challenge Day 10...

Something I'm afraid of.....

I'm a worrier. There are several things I'm afraid of. First and foremost, I'm scared that I'll never be able to have a baby. I'm almost 34 years old. Time is ticking. Second, I'm afraid something bad is going to happen to either Stephen or my family.

Other things I'm afraid of are:

~Snakes! I can't even put a picture of one on here because I am TERRIFIED to even look at them!

~MICE! It scares me silly to even think of the possibility of having one in my house. We have had several in our garage. We have about 5 mouse traps out there. We haven't seen one in a while, thank goodness! Funny story: I was in my 2nd year of teaching and one day I arrived at school to find the package of crackers on my desk half eaten. My heart sank! I was so afraid that I would be teaching one day and that little booger would come running out. That day came. I'll never forget it. It was Valentines Day. We had our room decorated and getting ready for the party. That little sucker ran out. The kids did fine, it was their teacher that went bonkers. I JUMPED on top of the desks. I started screaming!! My next door neighbor, Linda, told her kids, "If we have a mouse in our room, don't act like Mrs. so and so's kids!" Little did she know, it was ME doing all the hollering!!!! I called the intercom. That was a crazy day!! That day after school, the custodian put a trap on my desk and the next day, we caught the little sucker!!! :)

My Parents.....

My mom and dad, Tom and Lynette, are my inspiration. They have been a wonderful example for me. They have been married since 1969. When I am having a bad day, my dad always knows just what to say to make it better.

Of course, I do have a second set of parents, Bill and Pat, my husband's parents. They have been so wonderful to me. They spoil me, they take care of me. After my surgery, they came and stayed so they could take care of me and take me to my doctor's appointments. Then, they drove back to Alabama and came back again to help me set up my classroom! Pretty sweet!!

My first love....
My husband is my true first love. I thought I had "love" before that, but it wasn't by any means. It wasn't until I met my Stephen until I knew true love.

My younger sister went on a mission trip to Michigan which is where he was living at the time. She met him. She waited a whole year to introduce us! (God was getting us both ready!). The rest is history. We "met" by emailing May 2001. We met in person in June. The following June (2002) he proposed at Old Mackinac Point lighthouse in Mackinaw City, Michigan. We married June 14, 2003.

He is my best friend. He has never let me down.

a great weekend!

So, a while back I told Stephen I wanted to do something for him since he has done so much for me during this whole foot surgery deal. He decided he wanted to go to Houston this weekend and see the MSU/Houston game. So that's what we did. We drove down there Saturday morning. We went to eat lunch at Chuy's with my 2 cousins Kim and Lori. We had fun catching up. Then, we checked into our hotel, which was the same one as the team stayed at. That was pretty cool. Then we headed to the game. It was a fun game. The only thing I would change is for there to be no alcohol served. People were really going overboard with the stuff, you know what I mean!! The next day we woke up, ate room service, then headed to Galveston for some seafood. We ate at Gaido's which was delicious. Then, we drove around the island to see how it was recovering after Hurricane Ike. It is looking so good there! Those people must have really pulled together to get it to look that nice already. Then, we headed home. On the way home, out of the clear blue, we ran into my high school friend, Polly. It was so weird to see somebody we knew at McDonalds!! Today, we were able to go and pick up my sweet Sippi after hyperbaric therapy. We were very excited to see her and she was equally excited to see us!!! She's so cute.

Cutest Halloween doggie EVER!

This is only 1 of her many cute halloweeen outfits!! :)

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy

This is basically what my new daily hangout looks like. Thank the Lord for the TV!! The worst part has been the ears I do have to say. Once I have learned how to handle that, it has gotten much easier. Now the laying down for 2 hours is the next hard part. I fidget so bad! I guess it could be worse! :)

RIP Oscar

sad.....

Today has been a sad day. I found out that my infection in my foot is MRSA and pseudomonas. Two very hard infections to fight. I also will start hyperbaric oxygen therapy tomorrow. I'm pretty nervous about that little daily 2 hour adventure.

Something else happened today that made me really sad. My sister's dog, Oscar, died. They're not sure how it happened. She was very attached to that dog, even moved out of her apartment so she could keep him. He was a beagle and he was so sweet. He loved it when i would come over to their house. If he heard me, he would start howling. He will be missed.

I won't be able to return to work next week. To say I am ready to return would be an understatement.

One good thing happened today.....I met my sweet husband at Chipotle for dinner and it was yummy!!

it doesn't pay to have an ego.....

My original doctor messed up. in a BIG way. I have 3 infections (staph, strep, and one more I can't remember) in my foot. You know, after 3 months of a wound not healing, there has to be an underlying cause. We found out what that was. He didn't even culture it. He was quite piturbed that I would have the audacity to get a 2nd opinion. I'm so thankful I did. Now I am on 2 different antibiotics, one for 2 weeks and one for 4 weeks. I can tell you now that it is miserable to take that much antibiotics!!! I have been super sick.

So.......I planned on going back to school October 12th. I'll find out tomorrow if that is possible. I sure hope so. I miss teaching, my kiddos, my co-workers, being in control of MY classroom, etc! :) I am too much of a control freak! I have had some wonderful subs, don't get me wrong. It's just not the same. My name is on the line w/ these kiddos! If they do poorly on an assessment, it is my name in mud!

That's pretty much all that's happening for now. I go to the doctor and the physical therapist each week. That is my life for now. I feel like I have turned into an old woman! I'm trying to get back to doing laundry, cooking, shopping for groceries, things you definitely take for granted. I don't think I'll ever take the day to day things for granted again. God has definitely taught me a thing or two during all of this. But that is a whole other story! Once this is all over, I will explain all the things I have learned from Him.
