Fact Memorization

We're trying to get the kids to remember their addition facts so they'll be ready for 2nd grade.

Calendar time...

Calendar time has been my favorite part of the day now for a long time. It has become 100% student led. Once I got back from my medical leave, I trained them! ;) It is not cutesy, but it sure has taught them to be good leaders and it has helped on their math too. :)


we add a dot to the 10 frame every day and we count by 10's....


Even/Odd; cubes are velcroed.....

We say the days of the week and the months of the year every day.

Calendar...no more cute, month related numbers. The kids write these and they do the patterns also!

Flat Stanley!!

I wish I had started Flat stanley earlier! This was really fun and the kids got so excited when Stanley returned home!!!

....nope......it happened. A parent hung up on me. Shocker, I know. She told me that her child would not be picked up until 4 when we have a 3:00 dismissal. Yes, you heard that right, told me. Didn't ask, didn't feel bad about it. I told her she needed to find a way to pick her child up and she hung up on me. I felt disrespected. In a big way! It has really bothered me all weekend. Who knows what will happen this week.

Ladybugs!

I am working on a ladybug unit! We are getting live ladybugs this week as part of our science unit. This is my favorite thing to do in science all year!!! We just completed the rocks unit and I packed up the FOSS kit. I am so ready to return that thing!!! I will post some of this unit hopefully tonight if I can remember how to do it. :)
