One week….

A lot can happen in one week.  7 days.  168 hours.  It snowed one week ago.  Exactly one week ago today, our lives as we knew it came to a screeching halt.  One week ago, my husband got laid off from work.  The place he has gone to for 12 years.  In an instant, our lives have changed.  This is how the day went.  We woke up to a big surprise…it’s snowing!  So, me being the big chicken that I am, I asked him to bring me to work.  The weather was yucky.  So he did.  He brought me to work.  He told me he would probably be late picking me up because he had a meeting from 3-4.  I told him it was no problem because I had plenty to do at school.   He texted me telling me he finally made it  to work.  I was relieved.  If only we knew what was about to happen.  He saw where his company was laying a lot of people off.  Then, he got called in and told the news.  He didn’t tell me right away.  He went home and immediately started looking for another job.  He texted me and told me his meeting was cancelled and would pick me up at 4.  So he did.  He didn’t seem his usual self.  We went to dinner and then to Target for ink.  We pulled into the garage at home and that’s when he told me.  I went numb.  I have not cried so much in a long long time.  Where are all these tears coming from????

Well, one week later, here I sit.  The unknown is very scary.  I am a planner.  And it kills me to not know what will happen next. But, I do know one thing for certain.  We have a God that knows our needs.  He loves us.  He wants the best for us.  And HE is in control!  (not me)  I know something is right around the corner and it is going to be so much better than we can imagine.  Sometimes these things need to happen to remind us of who is in control.  We are God’s children and He will take care of us. No matter what.

Long vowels, Mitten Style!

Some of my sweet n lows are still having trouble reading long vowel words, so I decided to make a new long vowel game.

Click on the picture to take you to my TPT store!  This is a fun game that we play during our small group reading time.  It can be very quick and you can easily assess if they are able to read the words or not.  They LOVE it!!!
